There were a number of illustrated editions of Caesar in the sixteenth century, beginning with the Aldine edition of 1513 Mortimer, 96) and the Giunta edition of 1514. These illustrations clearly draw on those from earlier editions, though they are not identical to any that we have located. The present edition is said to have been owned by Queen Victoria.
