Obadiah Walker (1616-1699), a noted bibliophile, was the senior fellow and later the Master at University College, Oxford. Of Education is a distillation of his teaching experiences at Oxford. It was very popular, going to six editions by the turn of the century. Madan 2994 notes that "The first edition must have sold off well. The present edition is a reprint in a smaller size and type, with revisions and additions, and some ornaments. The last section of the whole book is a fair example of the changes."
