Hume’s (1814-1884) work lists ininety-five learned societies and twenty-two printing clubs in the British Isles. It includes a brief history of each club, a discussion of the sorts of books produced, the officers’ names, and a list of books published. The supplement brings the list of publications up to date, and adds some new societies.
