An Essay Concerning Human Understanding. In Four Books. The Seventh Edition, with large Additions
Locke, John.

London: Printed for J. Churchill…and Samuel Manship… 1716. Engraved portrait. Covers of both volumes dampstained, intermittent light dampstain throughout near fore-edge, affecting text. Attractive engraved armorial bookplate in each volume of John Hay, Marques of Tweeddale, Earle of Gifford, Viscount Walden, Lord Hay of Yester. This would appear to be John Hay, 2nd Marquess of Tweeddale (1645-1713) or his father, though both were deceased before this book’s publication. Aside from the staining, a good, crisp copy. Contemporary calf, gilt ruled, with hand-lettered spine label. Two volumes, octavo. [32], 372, [1]; [16], 34 (Item ID: 14759)
