Heavy cream paper wrappers with cover title printed in red. Sewn. Ink inscription on title page reads “For Charles Monell. From Ward Ritchie.” Laid in A.L.s. on Ward Ritchie’s stationery dated September 3, 1976 reads “Dear Dr. Monell. We very much enjoyed the evening at your beautiful home last Sunday. It was most gratifying to have so many old friends show up for the talk. Enclosed is a copy of a talk I recently gave in London which may interest you. Sincerely, Ward Ritchie.”. An autobiographical talk given by Ward Ritchie, which doubles as a who’s who of twentieth-century Anglo-American printing. Dr. Monell (1930-2022) was a well-known Southern California book collector and supporter of libraries. He gave his own extensive collection to the Huntington Library.
