OCLC lists a single copy of the 1924 edition at Harvard, and two copies of a 1923 edition (Harvard and the Ohio History Connection – formerly the Ohio Historical Society). Black and white illustrations throughout. Slight browning to top third of wrappers. Two small chips to wrapper tops. Mild soiling to front wrapper at spine. A very good + copy. Pink wrappers, stapled. Illustrated front wrapper. An advertising pamphlet for Keds shoes, published for the City Shoe Store, as well as other shoe stores in the U.S. The pamphlet contains an interesting assortment of entries, covering health advice (“Carrots” and “Sunburn”), naturalism (“Squirrels” and “Rainbows”), candy recipes, sporting instructions (“Rowing” and “Tether Ball”), and general advice for adventurous girls (“What To Do In Case of Accidents”). An introductory letter, signed by an individual whose name we could not discern, informs us that “…the big United States Rubber Company that makes Keds for girls’ and boys’ feet and ever so many other kinds of things out of rubber, asked me to prepare a little book that would give you all sorts of information about many matters in which I think you will be interested — a book that will help you and be useful and instructive and interesting.” The letter proceeds with a description of Keds’ manufacturing quality. Quaint advice and occasionally charming illustrations (see “the Stars”) for a newly active conception of girlhood.
