John Addington Symonds Jr. (1840–1893) was an English poet, critic, and historian, known for his biographies, renaissance scholarship, and, in particular, his attention to homosexuality in antiquity.

Jerry Kelly is a calligrapher, book designer, and type designer working in New York City. His work has been honored numerous times, including awards from the Type Director’s Club and the Society of Typographic Designers. Kelly has written many articles, as well as several books, on calligraphy and typography, including Artist and Alphabet (The American Institute of Graphic Arts & David R. Godine, 2000), A Century for the Century (The Grolier Club, 2000), The Art of the Book in the Twentieth Century (RIT, 2011), and The Noblest Roman: The Centaur Types of Bruce Rogers (co-authored with Misha Beletsky; winner of the 2016 Bibliographical Society of America Prize for best work on a bibliographical subject). Since 1978, Kelly has served as a partner at Kelly-Winterton Press.
