Some sections include decorative initials and red borders. Light fading and dust-soiling to spine. Bent tips. Pages exceedingly bright and clean. A Children’s Sampler includes selections of children’s stories from all over the world, reprinted by an array of female printers. Jane Grabhorn took on William Caxton’s Aesop (ch. 4), Dorothy Abbe printed W.A. Dwiggins’ mostly-unpublished Bronabejja illustrations (ch. 8), and Edna Beilenson here reproduced Jeanyee Wong’s lovely illustrations for the 1964 Peter Pauper Press book, Five Chinese Fairytales (ch. 13). Also represented here are the prominent California printers Lillian Marks (Plantin Press) and Caroline Anderson of Anderson, Ritchie, & Simon.
