Dorina Lady Neave was the daughter of Sir George Clifton of the Consular Service, who married Camilla Cumberbatch, daughter of the British Consul-General in Turkey. Romance of the Bosphorus is an examination of life in that country before its emancipation under Mustapha Kemal. Neave provides intimate details of its daily life and practices and, as a result, it is an interesting contribution to the social and political history of Turkey.
