Saul Marks and his Plantin Press.

[Laguna Beach, California: Laguna Verde Imprenta, 1975]. One of about fifty copies printed. The first book of Ward Ritchie’s Laguna Verde Imprenta, printed in memory of Saul Marks, who died in November, 1974, for Jacob Zeitlin, who also contributed the Gill wood engraving. Woodcut illustration from an Eric Gill design on title-page, woodcut printer’s device on colophon. Some wear to edges of wrappers. Correction made in blue ink, probably by Ritchie, to a printing error (correcting “Lilliam” to “Lillian”). With a brief tribute to Saul Marks by Wallace Nethery laid in. A near-fine copy. Red Cockerell wrappers, stitched at spine, printed paper label on front cover. Octavo. [10], [1, colophon], [1, blank] pp. Item #15532

The laid-in tribute is one of 350 copies printed at the Castle Press for presentation by the Friends of the USC Libraries at the Saul Marks Memorial Concert, William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, June 6, 1975.
