More Papers Hand Made by John Mason.

"This is a Collection of Sheets of Paper which I made by hand, at my small Twelve by Eight Mill in Leicester, from fibres reduced from a variety of plants and fabrics. These papers I had printed by a number of outstanding craftsmen and at various Printing Schools in England. Commenced in 1958, the first copies were not completed until the end of 1965.”. A collection of thirty-five handmade paper samples, most with printing from various sources, including Will Carter at the Rampant Lions Press, Dame Hildelith of the Stanbrook Abbey Press, Rigby Graham, Blair Hughes Stanton, and others. This copy contains three additional paper samples, not noted in the table of contents. It also contains a unique original “Thread Picture,” by Rigby Graham. A fine copy in publisher’s wrap-around protective folder, with original wrapping paper and ribbon tie. Cream-colored boards with front cover and spine printed in gilt. Small folio. Item #14647

Copies of this book were issued over a number of years, with imprints dating from 1966 to 1971. This copy, number 13, which is designated a “Special Copy” because of the Rigby Graham “Thread Picture.” Copies vary in the specimens included, depending upon when they were put together.

This is an impressive collection, including a reproduction from a woodblock by Eric Gill, paper printed from wallflower and parsley stems, paper made from some 100+ year old curtains, a portrait watermark of John Mason, etc.
