A History of English Lotteries Now for the First Time Written.

London: Leadenhall Press, 1893. First edition. An interesting chapter in the history of London popular culture. With twenty-eight inserted facsimiles of old lottery bills on paper of various tints (“It will be noted that the dirty red ink in some of them is exactly imitated.”), and with many text illustrations. Spine a bit browned, label rubbed, front hinge cracking, but sound. A good, clean copy. With two original broadsides laid in, one dating from May, 1804, and the other undated, but from the same period. Both have a few marginal chips, and one with some browning, but in good condition and rare. Natural linen with pink printed paper labels. Octavo. xi, [360], pp. + 16 pp. ads. Item #14623
