The Wasp was an illustrated weekly magazine devoted to social and political satire which was published from 1876 to well after the turn of the twentieth century. It was published by the Korbel brothers, who were born in Czechoslovakia and came to
California in the early 1860s. The brothers are of best known for producing champagne, and their winery continues today.
