This leaf from the Holy Bible is from a folio edition of the King James version, printed in London in the year 1640 by Robert Barker and 'the Assignes of John Bill.' ... As an example of seventeenth century craftmanship, this leaf is a creditable specimen. Typographically, the page is far better than the first folio of Shakespeare of a few years before. The arrangement of the type, the use of ornamental initials, and the margins are better than most contemporary examples of English printing. The paper, hand made from linen rags, with its soft color and pleasing texture, has lived its three hundred years with credit to its maker.
